Mixed Media Monday - vintage-inspired decorated box

So I've been getting back to playing with mixed media again! Here's this week's Mixed Media Monday project - a vintage-inspired decorated box. :)

I started off with this Fresh box (somebody bought skincare recently...*winks*). They've changed the design. Previously it had a separate lid. Now the lid is attached to the back of the box...which makes it a little tricky to decorate the sides. So I focused the design on the top lid.

I started by adhering the patterned paper to the lid of the box with gel medium. Then I went over the patterned paper with clear gesso.

Then I adhered all the dimensional elements before spraying with a gold mist.

It was so much fun creating dimensional collages. :)

Using the forgotten treasures in my stash. :)

Happy week ahead friends! :)

I completed another sketchbook of eye drawings! :)

Yes friends, I completed another sketchbook of eye drawings! Yay! Go me! *high fives all around*

This is sketchbook #2 of eye drawings using Holebin Artist Coloured pencils and a white Posca paint marker for highlights.

Did it get boring doing an almost daily eye drawing? (Sometimes I do 2 or 3 to get ahead of a busy week). Of course. But I tried to motivate myself by tweaking the colours, adjusting the eye angles and changing up the way I draw each eye.

Plus the time limit of 30 minutes on each eye didn't accord me the time freedom to waffle about...had to make quick decisions and just go with the flow.

I think a daily practice is a great way to get competent at something you are interested in. I'm starting on a new sketchbook next week. Let's go with another subject matter, shall we? *LOL*

Happy weekend friends!:)

Thursday's decorated envelope

So I've really been enjoying these decorated envelopes with a mish mash of packaging materials and my dwindling stash *winks*. :)

Check out the beautiful ornate patterned "paper"...it's from a box of cookies that I got at a Shangri-La Hotel. And "lazy bear" is a Post-It notepaper. :)

Happy Thursday friends! :)

This week's superquick mish mash project

Happy Tuesday friends! We are having a sweltering April here in Singapore - the "even if you sit still and do nothing, you are still going to perspire" type of heat and humidity. *send help!*

Here is this week's superquick mish mash project using a combo of happy mail stuff and my stash.

Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

The one where I played with my mixed media supplies

Yes friends, I actually played with gesso, acrylic paint and mist on this layout! It's been a while since I played with wet media except for the recent gold misting extravaganza. But I really wanted to use up my random chipboard collection plus this acrylic paint colour was calling out to me, "Pick me, pick me!" You know I don't ignore art supplies' pleas to get some love, right? *winks*

Anyway, mum's sister and cousin came for a visit last week so I have actually photos to scrapbook *high fives all around*.

Just the usual mish mash of found and upcycled stuff from my stash. :)

Playing along with Stick It Down.

Having fun with a paper plate

When I was reorganising the kitchen, I found this really lovely paper plate that came with a Japanese cheesecake. It's rectangle and perfect for a small piece of cake...or for someone to do a creative project on...*winks*

It is quite small but it has some lovely embossing at the edges. I just added some happy mail bits...

Finished with some textured  bits like a ribbon tab and twine.

What do you think?

Workspace Wednesday - current fave dessert

I haven't had much time to bake these days so my current fave dessert is an elevated organic Greek yogurt. *winks*

My toppings are a banana for a little sweetness, cashew nuts for a salty crunch and dark chocolate (85% cocoa) to balance the flavours.

What about you? What is your current fave dessert?
