Out with the folks

October has been a busy month...with a lot of time spent with the folks when my sister was on vacation.

My dad only looks for food when we go out. We were waiting to see the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctor...and he found a cafe round the corner. And the two of them had snacks and latte. *shakes head* Mum will always say that my dad only wants to eat but she always joins him. *LOL*

And yes, they still hold hands when they go out.

Lots of fun tucking in bits of scraps here and there...and adding fussy-cut bits, stickers, chipboard and washi tape to create embellishment clusters.:)

Happy week ahead friends! Looking forward to a brand new month and new challenges!

Friday's desk - this week's eye drawings

Happy Friday friends! Today I'm sharing some of the eye drawings I did this week. :)

It's the only thing I've been keeping up with on a somewhat daily basis. I am a little bored with the subject matter but only 20 + pages to go in my little sketchbook. And I'm getting really proficient at eye drawing...each one takes about 45 minutes max...and on a good day, I can get 3 drawn. (I share a daily eye sketch on IG.)

I want to go back to drawing portraits in November so these are really good for practice.

Enjoy your weekend friends! :)

Another week, another decorated kraft bag

Well friends, this is the LAST Kraft bag from SRM Stickers in my stash. *sad music plays in the background*

But I had so much fun with this one....:)

Lots of fun scraps...even a vellum stripy paper came into play. Stickers, washi tape, doily and some fussy-cut elements. Do they even go together? Probably not. *LOL*

Happy Thursday friends!

Workspace Wednesday - the pretty bowl edition

Today I was at Takashimaya Departmental Store and fell hard for these pretty Japanese bowls! :)

Love the contrast of patterns and colours!

I really couldn't decide which ones to get....

We are not in dire need of bowls at home of course.

Aren't they lovely though? *winks*

Just cousins hanging out

Earlier this month, my mum's siblings and cousin stopped by for a visit....they talked for hours as always.:)

I kept it simple because the background paper was quite elaborate with gold glittered bits.

Got a few scraps, stickers and washi tape in....still a gal, trying to use up her stash without buying anything new. *winks*

Hope you are having a great week so far!:)

I tore a hole in my eye drawing and tried to fix it

So this eye drawing in my daily sketchbook caused me grief today when I was adding highlights as a finishing touch and tore a hole. Can you spot it? *winks*

Here's a clue.... and are you ready to see the mess I had to fix? Brace yourself. *LOL*

Yep...that white blob of acrylic paint was just drawing your eye to the problem area eh? *hahaha*

I was really frustrated because the drawing was nearly done when this happened. I was tempted to rip this page out of the sketchbook. Then I calmed myself down and decided to try to fix it.

"Maybe a thin piece of paper? No wait, let's try washi tape."
"Okay...this green is a little off. Let's add some white acrylic paint."
"Looks pretty good. Let's match it up to the rest of the iris."
"Hmmm...something's a little off. Let's make the pupil a little bigger."
"Still missing a little contrast. Got to add some darks."
"Okay. It's looking pretty decent now."

Disaster averted. The end.

Happy weekend friends!:)

The one about the blue wig

So mum was really excited about the blue wig that my SIL gave me after her office costume party. And wanted to try it. *LOL*

Which kind of surprised me because she never wanted to try on the wig that I already own. She said mine was boring because it was brown (if you have been my long time bloody pal you would have seen it on me and on my niece) *hehehe*

She said (wait for it...), "I look like an old woman wearing a blue wig."
I said, "You are an old woman wearing a blue wig."

*cue laughter*

Makes for a fun layout for the family scrapbook album though. A nice break from the usual food photos. :)

Workspace Wednesday - this week's decorated kraft treat bag

Here's this week quick decorated Kraft treat bag. :) I kept it really simple...and flat!

P/s: I finally got my hands on some photo paper for my Canon Selphy printer and can start working on layouts again. They've been out of stock for a while which is why I haven't shared any layouts of late. Guess one will be coming up soon! *winks*

Tuesday's eye drawing from the sketchbook

Happy Tuesday friends! I'm really enjoying the new colours I've added to my Holbein Artist Colored Pencils. It's been fun layering the new colours with my existing colours to get even more variety of colours.

I'm so glad that my local art supply store decided to bring them in. They are my fave coloured pencils...I had to stop using them for a while because they were expensive to replace out of Japan (I bought mine in Japan) but now I can buy individual colours and "complete" my collection. *winks* They are actually cheaper than Prismacolors here *happy dance*.

P/s: I have ALL the colours for Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils...so it would be nice to have ALL the colours for the Holbein too, right? *LOL*

Make Stuff Monday - vintage-style decorated paper bag

I'm now working on decorating the larger paper bags in my stash. Even though I love texture and dimension, I'm keeping the elements somewhat flat for easy storage and transportation.

I really wanted to use this vintage postcard as the focal point..isn't it pretty?

A torn piece of scrap paper, doily, old music paper, ribbon tab, wax seal, washi tape and a paper clip. Considered pretty restrained in terms of elements as I usually like to include the whole kitchen sink. *LOL*

What do you think?

Friday's super quick project

Happy happy Friyay friends! The last two weeks have been really hectic with twists and turns that would make for an interesting movie. Hmmm..who should play me? *winks* I can't wait to sleep tonight...and chill a little over the weekend. Hope you've had a fruitful week...enjoy the weekend!:)

October 2022 - flowers at the Flower Dome

October's floral display at the Flower Dome (Gardens by the Bay) is a Spanish serenade with sunflowers.

The theme changes every month or so and I always try to go get a visual feast (as well as maximise my yearly membership..*winks*).

If you ever visit Singapore, it's worthwhile to check out the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. The displays are always very pretty and you can take lovely photos in an air-conditioned space.:)
