Working with pretty pastel colours...canvas memo board

Mixed-media-canvas-for-The-Crafter's-Workshop-by-Yvonne-Yam

I find working with pastel colours REALLY hard. It's not that I don't like pastel colours. But I'm always tempted to go a little richer and deeper...*winks*

Yes, the leaves would be me adding a richer and deeper colour...*LOL*

The leaves were created with Liquitex light modeling paste, The Crafter's Workshop Lovebirds stencil, Faber Castell Artist Big Brush Pen and Golden glass bead gel.

The word "Happy" was cut using The Crafter's Workshop Vertical LOVE Bunting die and covered with mica flakes.

The base was created with scrunched up wrapped tissue and Faber Castell gelatos. [Lizzy Hill, I finally used the Jo Sonja glitter paint we bought at the art store in Hornsby!]

An ode to SRM Stickers

Hello friends. Can't believe that just a year ago, my wish to be on the SRM Stickers design team came true. You know how much I love my SRM Stickers.*winks* I've had an awesome year playing with the SRM range of products. :)

Like the fun tubes, clear boxes and vinyl!

Or the burlap bags, the kraft pillow boxes, the clear purse and the kraft and glassine bags!

A big shoutout to my bloggy pal, Annette Allen for making the SRM Stickers team this year! :)

And thank you to Susan for the oppotunity to play with your fabulous products! :)

P/s: Happy weekend my friends! I know I am soooooooo way behind in returning blog visits but I've been having connectivity issues...thank goodness my tech guy [aka dad] is coming back from vacation tonight...*winks*

Thursday

Smitten with burlap..

Celebrate-card

Have you noticed that I've been pretty smitten with the sweet coloured burlap from DCWV? I didn't want to "waste" any so I made a card! :)

The leaves were created with The Crafter's Workshop stencil and Liquitex light modeling paste and coloured with Faber Castell Big Brush Pen. Trying my best to channel my bloggy friend Shelly's CAS style...*winks*

Tuesday

These two have been getting their game on...

Nephew #1 and nephew #2 were eager to show me their hand-drawn and coloured card game...:)

Here they are, posing with their fave picture cards from their collection. :)

Love how creative kids can be with just paper and colour pencils. :)

Hanging out with the niece and nephews...

Oh-happy-day-layout

So I finally got to hang out with the niece and nephews on their home turf. They were eager to show me where they kept their little "treasures" and fave toys. :)

Due to scheduling conflicts, I haven't seen them in 7 weeks! So photos had to be taken of course! *winks*

Yeah, niece Sophie just refused to stand up...*LOL*

This is what you do when you have two pics that you want to include but have no space - photo surgery! *winks*

Fun day at Jiu Fen

Fun-day-layout-by-Yvonne-Yam-for-The-Crafters-Workshop

So my sister and I spent a fun day at Jiu Fen in Taipei last March. A renowned tourist attraction, the town is full of retro Chinese-style cafes, teahouses and souvenir stores.

My sister did a great job of introducing the place, eh? *LOL*

Does the misted background look familiar? It was created with the residual mists from last week's: The pretend sad faces layout using one of my fave stencils from The Crafter's Workshop.

Still having fun with my DCWV patterned papers...:)

Happy weekend friends! :)

The quest to make the sticker stash a little smaller....

Last-minute-lunch-date

So, I'm on a mission to make my sticker stash a little smaller. Now, they don't take up a lot of space but cardstock stickers tend not to stick to their sheets very well....[grrr......] and I often end up with missing sticker letters [usually found on my shirt after I've skilfully cut two letters to form the one I was missing...*LOL*].

It is awesome is to be able to form full words for your title work without resorting to "sticker surgery".....*winks*

Love the puffy birdie sticker from my bloggy friend Lynn. :)

Of course, I had to throw in my fave SRM Stickers too...even though I really want to hoard them. :)

Burlap-covered box for Xyron

Burlap-covered-box-by-Yvonne-Yam-for-Xyron7

Hello friends! Not sure if you've noticed but I've been more than a bit obsessed with burlap of late...*winks* Given that I'm also into altering boxes...only a matter of time before I combine the two right?

I started with this well-used tin box that needed a face-lift. :)

Cut the DCWV burlap to size...I went slightly bigger because burlap tends to fray.

Then run it through the Xyron 5" Creative Station for an even application of adhesive.

Adhere to box and trim off excess burlap.

Add washi tape to the edge of the box...[yes...I was totally excited that I had washi tape in the exact shades!]

Then pull out embellishments in your stash in similar colours and adhere with Xyron/Teresa Collins Clear Hold Adhesive. I love this adhesive because it holds strongly and dries clear.

The only drawback is that you have to buy the entire Teresa Collins Adhesive Kit to get it...and everything is in pink..*winks at Julie Tucker-Wolek*

The embellished black wood monogram

Thanks for the encouraging feedback on my embellished white wood monogram. Here is the "dark" version with the black wood monogram. [sinister music plays in the background...]

I decided to do a tone-on-tone play with black.

I started with some black leather from an old bag that I adhered to the wood monogram with gel medium. Then I trimmed off the excess leather [now this took an extremely long time because apparently you need shears to cut through leather..]

Then I adhered lace using gel medium. The white under the lace you see is gel medium...it dries clear. Now, you can use any adhesive you want. I like gel medium because it gives me time to move an element around if I don't like it and it isn't sticky to touch.

Then I finished with a large black sequinned bloom and a Prima charm.

What do you think?
