You brighten my day..a card for The Crafter's Workshop

As you know, these days, I fancy CAS cards because they involve restraint [good training for minimalism..*winks*] and they are postal-friendly. :)

The "abstract" chevron pattern on the background was created using residual mists and The Crafter's Workshop's chevron stencil. I added the same green mist to some light modeling paste and applied it using The Crafter's Workshop feather stencil. Then I finished with a Prima paper bloom , self-adhesive pearls and a stamped sentiment.

When a piece of patterned paper does most of the work....

Farmers-news

Don't you love a patterned paper that does the most of the work for you? *winks* I had these three separate photos taken at the tea plantation that I wanted on the same layout. But the challenge was how to lay them out to tell a story.

This Jillibean patterned paper was perfect...I could lay the photos out on a "newspread". :)

And include everyone on it...somehow...*winks*

Pretty blooms in a jam jar?

If you have seen my craft desk, you would know that I love clear storage. So when I got these clear tubes from SRM Stickers, the first thought that came to mind was "oooh...new storage!" *LOL*

Since I try to "pretty" up my storage to fit my room decor, I added some crochet blooms and leaves to the top and added a strip of SRM Sticker.

Then I put them in an old jam jar. Now it looks like a pretty vase of blooms..but it holds my beads. *winks*

What about you? Do you try to pretty up your storage containers?

A totally girly girl...

Love-pink

So my niece is a totally girly girl. You would think that with three big brothers, she would be a huge tomboy. Nope. She loves anything pink, sweet and pretty.*winks*

Even when wearing jeans, she needs to pair with a pink girly top..Of course, this means her pink sunglasses goes with everything in her wardrobe! *LOL*

I love the DCWV patterned paper that I used as a base so I played with the photos instead. The photos are on 3D dots for an extra pop. I used Art Anthology stone effects dimensional paint for the gritty look on the ground. Then I added balloon brads and twine.

For the second photo, I added some pom poms that I had in my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash. And a hot pink pig sticker [in case you were wondering, my sister owns a huge hot pink stuffed pig that the kids LOVE to play with...that's why I sometimes include a pig in my "scenes"..].

Playing along with Scrap365 sketch challenge and  the mood board challenge at Scrap Around the World. I went with the happy vibe and balloons. :)

Sunday breakfast

Sunday-breakfast-layout-by-Yvonne-Yam-for-The Crafters Workshop

I have a Sunday morning ritual with my mother...a 20 minute walk to a suburban mall for breakfast and supermarket shopping...[to buy the stuff that she forgot to buy on Saturday...*winks*]

My father usually goes for his weekend tennis session with his buddies but occasionally joins us...like this particular Sunday. I thought it would be fun to use the ledger stencil from The Crafter's Workshop as the "patterned paper" background. :)

The colours for the layout were pulled from the photo. Love the yummy papers from DCWV. :)

P/s: Happy weekend friends! :)

Pocket page layout with Xyron and Paper House

So I finally got "strong-armed" into trying a pocket page layout...*winks* Love that this week, Xyron is teaming up with Paper House Productions  for a fun week of creative projects!

I love this Paper House patterned paper with the brick wall and then hanging vines which was perfect for the backdrop of a Nordic restaurant I went to in Penang. I cut out the little frames from the actual photo and adhered them to the base using my Xyron Mega Runner. I also added the Fish & Chips cardstock sticker from Paper House and created a "chalkboard art" piece for my journaling.
Don't forget to go comment on the Xyron blog for your chance to win some goodies! :)

My obsession with Art Anthology paints...and a Made With Love Instagram giveaway!

Inspire-mixed-media-canvas1

As you all know, I'm in the midst of discovering my "dark side"...*winks*.... this mixed media canvas for Made With Love also marries my latest obsession - Art Anthology paints! :)

The background of the canvas was created with TCW Stencils and Liquitex light modeling paste and resin sand (for the text stencil). Then I coloured the entire canvas with Art Anthology metallic paint in silver. And then added the Art Anthology stone effects paint in black on the edges and the raised text.

Then I added my embellishment cluster...dabbing some metallic silver paint for a subtle sheen on the blooms.

Hanging out with the folks on movie night...

Hooray-movie-night

Two Sundays ago, we scored free tickets to catch The Amazing Spider Man 2 and I got to hang out with my folks. :)

Check out our pathetic attempt at a family selfie...*LOL*

My mother is always up for a photo while my father doesn't understand why I have to take so many photos [yes, he doesn't understand why food has to be "staged" and  photographed before they can be eaten too...*winks*].

The one about the stinky tofu and sweet desserts

So last March, I tried stinky tofu [aka fermented tofu]  for the first time when I was in Taiwan with my family. Now, I've heard a lot about the stench...described by many as a cross between burning garbage and body odour...which was very strong when it was being cooked...but didn't smell that bad when the dish was served up though.

It was actually quite good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. But I suppose it's not for the faint-hearted. As you know, I'm quite adventurous when it comes to food....*winks*

We did wash it all down with a couple of sweet desserts a couple of stores down the street. :)

Just a super quick layout for SRM Stickers. Happy weekend my friends!

Birthday party layout with Xyron and Out on a Limb Scrapbooking

Birthday-birthday-layout-by-Yvonne-Yam-for-Xyron

This month the team at Xyron got to play with some goodies from Out on a Limb Scrapbooking. I got the Birthday Party Page Kit which was perfect for nephew #3's birthday photos. :)

This is the first time I've played with a scrapbooking kit with pre-cut elements but what a time-saver! :)

1. I matted my smaller photos on the cardstock pieces using my Xyron Mega Runner.
2. I ran the birthday party diecuts through my Xyron 5" Creative Station.
3. I ran the cupcake diecuts through the Xyron Mini Sticker Maker, Xyron 3" Sticker Maker and Xyron 5" Creative Station.
4. I ran the balloon diecuts through the Xyron 3" Sticker Maker.

Then assemble the diecut pieces for the various elements. Aren't they cute?

Here's the layout with all the elements from the Out on a Limb Scrapbooking kit. Next step is to "personalize" it.:)

I added some stickles to the candle flame, a crochet sweet and a chipboard to the cupcake.

I added some SRM Stickers on the balloons.

I added some stickles on the word "party" and outline the word "birthday" with a white pen. I also added some buttons for texture and interest.

Don't forget to comment on the Xyron blog for your chance to win some goodies. :)
